Silverbell grows along mountain streams in the southern Appalachians and is hardy far north of there. It wants moist, acid, well-drained soil and light shade, where it becomes a multi-stemmed small tree with yellow fall color and four-winged fruit. Rarely available because the seed needs two winters to germinate; ours are past that.
