Blue Whale Trees

Acorns, Nuts & Seed

Acorns, nuts and seed to sow, collected from the same proven parent trees as our saplings.

360 of the species we grow are also offered as acorns, nuts or seed to sow: forty-one as acorns, twenty-three as nuts and 296 as seed packets. The seed sowing planner turns each page's sowing advice into dates for your fall or spring. Acorns and chestnuts are alive and die if they dry. White-oak-group acorns should be planted the week they arrive, red-oak-group acorns want one to three months of cold, damp storage and most nuts a full winter of it. Most small seed keeps dry until sowing, though pawpaw and magnolia seed must stay moist. Acorns, nuts and seed ship year-round. Sow them under hardware cloth, or the squirrels dig them up.

An order of only seed, acorns or nuts ships for $5.00 for the first item and $0.50 for each additional one to MD, DE, VA, PA, NJ, DC and WV; for $10.00 for the first item and $1.00 for each additional one to the rest of the contiguous US. Rates and shipping details.
