Trees & Shrubs for Dry Soil
Trees and shrubs that take dry soil or tolerate drought, grown from seed.
We grow 188 trees and shrubs that take dry soil or tolerate drought. Of these, ninety-three are shrubs, among them fragrant sumac, New Jersey tea and creeping juniper. The trees run from eastern redbud and Chickasaw plum to longleaf pine and Kentucky coffeetree. All but one are native: the Chinese chestnut is grown for its nuts. Native trees and shrubs for dry, sandy soil covers the plants of barrens and dunes, and the Dry Sandy Site Pack is a set chosen to go together.
